What is Lojong
Lojong is a Tibetan system of mind training that is about a thousand years old. It is based on a simple observation: most of our reactions switch on by themselves. Someone hurts us, and we flare up. Something does not go to plan, and anxiety takes over. We do not choose these reactions: they fire automatically, out of habit, and they are exactly what damages our relationships, decisions and health.
Lojong teaches us to notice the moment a reaction is just starting and to work with it. The tool is simple: short reminder formulas that are applied not on a meditation cushion but right in the thick of life: in a conversation, in a traffic jam, in a conflict.
Over time a pause appears between the situation and the response, and in that pause there is a choice. Difficulties stop merely draining you and start working for you.
Lojong requires neither preparation nor a change of lifestyle. For centuries this method has been used both by monks and by people with the most ordinary lives: work, family, children.
